The Fairey Swordfish Makes a Return

Sherburn Airfield is steeped in aviation history and being based here we are lucky to be able to be part of celebrating such occasions as this.

The Fairey Swordfish returned to Sherburn-in-Elmet this weekend.

.

Built in 1941 by Blackburn Aircraft at Sherburn-in-Elmet, Swordfish W5856 has undergone a lengthy rebuild over the few years and was finally saved for the nation and restored to full flying condition with the support of a £200,000 grant from the Peter Harrison Heritage Foundation. She took to the skies again back in 2015.
